Summer Crafts for Your Kiddos

The kids are out for summer. A bittersweet feeling. More time with the kiddos and also more time to fill with activities. When they’re not playing sports, floating the river or riding their bikes, arts and crafts can be a great way to entertain your kids and their friends during those nice summer days outside. Set up your patio for a little crafting workstation, add in some supplies and let them go to town.

Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Handprint Fish Puppets

Not only a fun way to occupy little creative minds while they’re making them, but they can turn into a fun game afterwards. Have them get a crew of their friends together, build a little stage and put on a puppet show.

Egg Carton Animals

Egg Carton Turtles (and other animals too!)

Wondering what to do with your old egg cartons. This one is easy because all you need is retired cartons, some paint and a few standard craft accessories. Start with a turtle then let the creativity fly! Who knows what they’ll come up with as additional animals to add to their zoo.

Toilet Roll Hula Girl and Mermaid

Another great way to reuse household items for fun in the craft space. And another great way to let your little ones get creative. Start with the template for a mermaid or hula girl then maybe a firefighter or even a puppy. The opportunities are endless with this simple and easy time filler.

Pinecone Pineapple

Pinecone Pineapple

Not an activity that’s born from household items, but one that comes from nature. And luckily, there is no shortage of pinecones in Central Oregon. You could make an entire fruit basket of pinecone pineapples and not even leave your backyard!

Four of July Streamers

Independence Day is right around the corner. So get your kids working on this fun and patriotic blower for the big day. Those toilet paper rolls are going to come in handy once again. Time to start stocking up!
